Systems Engineering Manager

Provides supervision/management of the activities and staff of an
Engineering or technical unit engaged in product development, design,
process definition / improvement or related technical support function.

Under minimal management supervision, responsible for the following areas:
systems design, integration and system verification, troubleshooting & test.
The systems design area includes system-level requirements definition,
system architecture analysis through modeling and simulation and the
generation of respective documentation.
The system integration, verification and test areas include the coordination
of system-level test plans for sub-system and system-level integration testing,
perform the duties of a director of system-level testing, and oversee the
generation of the system test report. Another essential function of the position
is the role played in supporting Airplane Installation, Certification, Field
Support and Proposal Activity. Position requires thorough and extensive
knowledge of systems engineering principles, which includes computer
science disciplines as well as knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and
trade practices in the systems field.

1. Plans, coordinates, and organizes phases of the project to completion;
utilizes schedules to organize and understand project tasks and manages the
tasks throughout the system design and verification phases.

2. Commit on schedule and budget constraints for the project the holder of
the job is responsible for.

3. Identifies and resolves potential problems before they occur therefore
minimizing the impact to schedule and cost.

4. Manage a team of Systems engineers defining tasks, assigning programs and performing evaluations. Conduct regular communication meetings and status reports.

5. Generates documentation for each respective phase. The definition
phase includes the following documentation: Systems Requirements
Specification, Interface Control Documentation, Modeling and Simulation
Documentation.

6. Exercises a high degree of initiative and independent judgement in
coordinating the work of peer personnel within the group and external
groups as well.

7. Provides budgetary status of program against plan and future work load.

8. Manages material resources as needed for system-level testing.

9. Provides recommen for determining technical and long-range goals.

10. Manages, documents, and ensures product compliance with
customer requirements.

11. In post-delivery support, assists with problem isolation/identification,
conducts system design reviews and actively participates in hardware / software design reviews.

12. Will directly supervise 4-10 employees in the systems engineering
department.

Position requirements:
BS in EE, CS, CE, or Software, with 8+ years experience in IFE or avionics
/ electronic systems development and methodology (functional specifications,
functional testing)
Knowledge of switched Ethernet communications, serial buses (RS485, 232)
and avionic buses (ARINC 429)
Basics in Internet Technology (TCP/IP, HTML, browsers, servers, MPEG 1 / 2 / 4 , MP3)
Basics in Linux operating systems
Strong documentation and communication skills
Some travel is required
