Job Summary

Demonstrate expertise and provide strong technical leadership in the design and development of primary packaging for ThermaCare and other consumer healthcare products through the aggressive pursuit of advanced packaging materials, packaging development approaches, and innovative packaging technologies. This position can be located in either Richmond, VA or Cincinnati, OH.

Job Responsibilities

- Design, development, and engineering of packages for development program or initiative where packaging expertise or experience is critical to project success. This encompasses projects where there is a high likelihood of product/package interactions, or where the package is critical to product stability or performance. Focus is on primary package design and development, with particular emphasis on creating packaging solutions that allow marketing of new forms and presentations that create value for the respective brand.
- Originate, design, and execute primary package development experiments, and packaging technology transfer activities in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Ascertain that studies are properly designed, conducted, and reported to efficiently support product development projects. Consistently apply in-depth technical expertise to develop new packaging, packaging processes, and testing methods with the ability to interface with ancillary functional areas.
- Work as a team member to ensure that packages are properly designed and developed, and that project objectives and schedules are met. Primary internal Package Development interfaces are with all functional areas such as other scientists within Research and Development, Developmental Quality and Compliance, Regulatory, Clinical, GMP Operations and Business Unit groups. Primary external interfaces would be Global Packaging Services, Wyeth Technical Services, Manufacturing Operations, Third Party Development, Contract Laboratories, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical, Project Planning and Administration, and Business Development.

Basic Qualifications

- A Bachelors Degree is required. A Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, Packaging Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Industrial Design major is preferred.
- At least 9 years of relevant experience with a PhD, or at least 12 years of relevant experience with a Masters Degree, or at least 14 years of relevant Bachelors Degree experience.
- Leadership experience with packaging development is preferred.
- Demonstrated success with chemical and material science, heat platform technology, and/or transdermal delivery is preferred.
- Proven written and oral communication skills and necessary organizational skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
