Company Description

Serica Technologies, Inc. (Serica), www.sericainc.com, is a growth stage medical
device company that is focused on the development of innovative technology to
solve large unmet clinical needs in orthopaedic sports medicine and soft tissue
repair. Serica is pioneering the commercialization of proprietary long-term
bioresorbable silk-based medical devices based on the Seri™ and SeriGel™
technology platforms to functionally restore damaged and diseased human soft
tissue. Serica’s strength lies in its ability to create quality silk-based technology
to solve large, unmet clinical needs through a unique multi-disciplinary scientific-
engineering-medical team approach.

Focused on developing disruptive technologies to derive profit, Serica was
incorporated in December 1998 to capitalize on the worldwide $2 billion per year
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) market. Today, Serica has expanded its
technology and manufacturing capabilities beyond the ACL to address synergistic
product platforms in orthopaedics, including rotator cuff tendon reconstruction,
plastic and cosmetic surgery, general surgery, and women’s health.

Venture capital backed, Serica is in a strong financial position to pursue the
commercialization of its ligament and tendon replacement technologies currently
in pre-clinical trials.

Serica's team consists of highly dedicated and motivated individuals who are
committed to finding solutions in order to achieve success. Our broad range of
technical, scientific and clinical backgrounds allows Serica to create a multi
disciplinary approach while maintaining a team-based, cooperative and open
working environment. To accommodate rapid growth and expansion, Serica is
seeking highly motivated, dedicated, and hard working individuals who possess
enthusiasm, energy and a strong commitment to success.

At Serica, there is a belief that “all roadblocks are surmountable”. The culture is
one that clearly fosters a team approach to creative and innovative thinking.
Each person’s ideas are valued, and there is tremendous respect and appreciation
for the contributions of every individual. The Company is non-hierarchical, and
individuals are empowered to make a difference in the greater pursuit of the
Company’s critical milestones. People are not politically driven, but are motivated
by the success of the Company as a whole.

Individuals that thrive in this culture are ones who truly understand the meaning of
team, and are humble but intensely driven. As the Company grows, significant
attention will be given to maintaining the entrepreneurial and supportive
environment, as well as the passion upon which the company was founded.

The Company is committed to being socially and ethically responsible, with the
highest degree of integrity displayed in all interactions.

Technology Platform Description

The backbone of Serica’s technology platforms is the company’s in-depth
understanding of its biomaterial’s behavior in the body. The complexity of the
biomaterials’ transitory nature and product processing intricacies allow for control
over device bioresorption and the ability to tailor mechanical performance to meet
the requirements of several large unmet clinical needs. Serica employs a diverse
array of disciplines to develop a functional understanding of its protein-based
portfolio, from protein biochemistry and cell biology to mechanical and textile
engineering. Thorough bench, pre-clinical and clinical research programs are
on-going in order to realize the full potential of the Seri and SeriGel platforms.
